Sound on iBook running Debian

After a while the sound on the iBook [0] is now willing to make the way from the cd-rom via the single loudspeaker to my ears – Keziah Jones e.g. There was some sound-troubleshooting nescessary here. I found out that ALSA [1] is not meant to be run in parallel with dmasound_pmac, which actually comes with the kernel. There are ways to switch between them. But for now it works pretty well with dmasound_pmac after having removed all alsa installations from Debian. There is a real good tutorial on ibooklinux [2]. Hardware information has been retrieved from the developer site of Apple [3].
